The Silver Line Turns One This Month, and Its Best Addison Trips Leave Town

  • October 8, 2026

The DART Silver Line turns one on October 25. Addison Station sits near the middle of the line, so three nearby downtowns are now closer by train than DFW Airport. Carrollton's square is 8 minutes away, CityLine about 16 and historic downtown Plano about 19. Addison Junction, the district planned for the land beside the station, is not expected to start construction until 2027. So in its first year, the trip from Addison Station worth taking most often has been the short one out of town.

The Station Came First. The District Comes Later.

DART started passenger service on Saturday, October 25, 2025. The line connects Addison with Plano, Richardson, Dallas, Carrollton, Coppell, Grapevine and DFW Airport. Addison Station is at 4925 Arapaho Road. It has 300 parking spaces, bus connections and access to the Keller Springs GoLink zone.

The district meant to grow up around that platform is still a plan. Addison Junction is a proposed 14-acre mixed-use project by Quadrant Investment Properties. Plans call for a 155,550-square-foot office building, a 140-room hotel, The Hangar event venue, restaurants, a beer garden and public plazas. The Town presented its schedule on March 24, 2026. It sets a November 2026 bid opening for the public infrastructure package and takes construction-phase services to the council in December. The Town's June 12 update still described design, survey and landscape planning, and it said the Town looks forward to construction in 2027.

Addison's restaurant calendar has been changing over the same stretch. The Town discontinued Taste Addison before its planned April 2026 return, and the council asked staff for smaller ideas to promote local restaurants. The original Cantina Laredo at 4546 Belt Line Road closed on August 2 after 42 years. The Social Pour opened in February at 4800 Belt Line Road, in the former Benedict's space. Addison Oktoberfest filled Addison Circle Park from September 17 to 20. Visit Addison says Vitruvian Lights returns in November but hasn't posted a lighting date. Until Addison Junction is built, the station is mostly a way out to other towns.

How Far Each Stop Is From the Addison Platform

The current weekday timetable sets the distances. Addison sits between the Richardson and Plano stops to the east and the airport stops to the west.

Stop Minutes from Addison What's at the platform
Downtown Carrollton 8 Historic square, Pocket Sandwich Theatre, 3 Nations Brewing
UT Dallas About 10 Campus stop
CityLine/Bush About 16 CityLine Plaza and State Street restaurants
12th Street About 19 Haggard Park, McCall Plaza, 15th Street
DFW North 25 Transfer to TEXRail
DFW Terminal B 32 Tunnel to the terminal

A resident could reach three neighboring downtowns and get home in less time than one airport round trip. With the fall event calendars, those short trips line up well with October and November weekends.

Eight Minutes to the Carrollton Square

Downtown Carrollton Station is at 1025 North Denton Drive. DART says Historic Downtown is within walking distance, with shops, restaurants, trail connections and seasonal events. Pocket Sandwich Theatre at 1104 S. Elm Street is advertising its 2026 season. 3 Nations Brewing's taproom is at 1033 E. Vandergriff Drive.

The city schedules square events from 1106 S. Broadway Street. Sounds on the Square brings live music to the gazebo from 6 to 8 p.m. on select Fridays. Coming up this season:

  • October 24: Halloween Critter Hunt & Downtown Delights
  • November 7: Festival at the Switchyard, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • December 5: Santa on the Square

The Switchyard festival runs until 10 p.m. on a Saturday, and Silver Line weekend trains run once an hour. Look up the return train before the evening gets going.

CityLine Puts the Platform on the Property

CityLine/Bush Station is at 1300 E. President George Bush Highway, and CityLine describes the rail stop as "right on property." Passengers can also transfer there to DART's Red and Orange lines. CityLine Plaza at 1150 State Street is a one-acre public space with a lawn, tables and public art. Good Union Urban BBQ shares that address.

Several of the newest tenants opened during the line's first year. CityLine marks Crimson Dragon Cafe at 1450 State Street, Suite 400, as "Now Open on State Street." Original ChopShop is now open at CityLine Market, 1419 E. Renner Road. The dining directory also lists Edoko Sushi & Robata, Fish City Grill, Manny's Mexican Kitchen, Show Mini Hot Pot, The Brass Tap, Tricky Fish and Wildwood.

CityLine LIVE runs every Friday and Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. through October 30. The CityLine Night Market and live music come to the Plaza on October 9 from 6 to 10 p.m. and return on the second Friday of each month through December. A Chanukah Menorah Lighting is planned for December 6. The Merry Market follows on December 11 and 12. CityLine Park is a mile from the Plaza, so it's a longer walk than the restaurants.

Downtown Plano Has the Longest Ride and the Fullest Fall Calendar

12th Street Station is at 995 12th Street, a few blocks from downtown Plano's shops, restaurants and historic landmarks. Haggard Park is at 901 E. 15th Street. McCall Plaza is at 998 E. 15th Street, and Visit Plano says the DART stop is steps from the plaza. Cafe Meltie opened at 930 E. 15th Street, Suite 200, and Local Profile covered the opening in April 2026.

This stop has the busiest October of the three:

  1. October 11: Barktoberfest in the Downtown Plano Arts District
  2. October 17: The free Plano International Festival at Haggard Park
  3. October 24: Rest In Plano Fest at Haggard Park
  4. November 7 and December 5: Plano Art & Culture Quest, a free first-Saturday event at McCall Plaza

Visit Plano's listings give conflicting hours for several of these events, so check the City of Plano's times before you plan around a specific train.

The Airport Trip and the Grapevine Transfer

The airport trip works as advertised. Terminal B is a direct Silver Line stop, reached through a marked tunnel, and a covered walkway connects to Terminal A and the Orange Line. DART says a Local Pass covers Silver Line service to Terminal B, so the trip doesn't need a Regional upgrade.

Grapevine needs a transfer. Riders get off at DFW North, 25 minutes from Addison, and connect there to TEXRail. The historic district is about two miles from that station. Its Main Street has the Grapevine Vintage Railroad, the Palace Arts Center, winery tasting rooms, shops and restaurants. Plan it as a two-train trip and check the TEXRail connection before you go.

Planning Around Hourly Weekend Trains

The Silver Line runs from 4 a.m. to 1 a.m. daily. Trains come every 30 minutes at weekday peaks and every hour off-peak and on weekends. The State Fair runs September 25 through October 18, and during that time DART runs the Silver Line every 30 minutes Friday through Sunday. New Silver Line timetables take effect October 19. DART's weekend schedules for that date show hourly trains, with northbound departures from Addison at 5:59, 6:59 and 7:59 a.m. and so on. Check DART for any other changes before planning trips after that date.

Fares on the DART Silver Line page:

  • Local 3-Hour Pass: $3, enough for a quick trip to the Carrollton square and back
  • Local Day Pass: $6, good until 3 a.m. the next day
  • Regional Day Pass: $9, for trips that continue onto Trinity Metro or DCTA

DART's first ridership report gives a sense of scale. From launch through December 31, 2025, the line recorded 141,000 rides. Rides were free from October 25 through November 8. After that, the whole line carried about 1,000 to 1,900 rides on most days in late 2025, and Saturdays fell in the same range as weekdays. Bids on the Addison Junction infrastructure package are scheduled to open in November 2026, and construction is expected in 2027. Until then, a $3 pass from Addison Station reaches the Carrollton square in 8 minutes.
