Shopping options abound in Park Cities. Preston Center, a mixed-use center of retail, services, restaurants, and doctors’ offices, is a big draw, as is Snider Plaza. Highland Park Village, an upscale shopping plaza located at the southwest corner of Mockingbird Lane and Preston Road, is another local favorite. Considered the first self-contained shopping center in America, Highland Park Village was declared a National Historic Landmark in 2000.
Things to Do
Annual events dominate the Park Cities calendar. The annual Fourth of July Parade, hosted by the Rotary, is a can’t miss event, as are the Holiday Carriage Rides when residents cruise through the streets in a horse-drawn carriage, wrapped in a warm blanket, sipping hot chocolate while enjoying the beautiful Christmas light displays. Turtle Creek Blooms, hosted each spring, celebrates the town’s annual azalea blooming when over 8,000 azaleas spring to life.
